1. About these terms
- 1.1When you book work with us by email, text, WhatsApp, online, over the phone or in person, you agree to these terms and conditions.
- 1.2In these terms, “we”, “us” and “the Company” mean QuickServe Plumbing Ltd, trading as QS Plumbing. “You” and “the Customer” mean the person or organisation we agree to carry out work and/or supply materials for.
2. Quotes and estimates
- 2.1Our quotes are estimates based on the information available when we inspect the job.
- 2.2Quotes are valid for 30 days unless we state otherwise.
- 2.3Estimates are not fixed prices. They may change if unforeseen issues come up while we’re doing the work (see section 4).
3. Working hours
- 3.1The price in your quote is based on the work being carried out during normal working hours.
- 3.2If our engineer works beyond the planned day, you won’t pay extra unless this was agreed beforehand and set out in your quote.
4. Unforeseen issues and extra costs
- 4.1Sometimes unforeseen issues come up, such as structural obstructions or additional faults. These can mean extra labour time or material costs.
- 4.2If this happens, we’ll tell you promptly and give you an updated estimate to approve.
- 4.3For jobs under £200 that are an immediate necessity for safety or to keep things working (for example, repairing a broken stop tap), we may go ahead without asking for your approval first.
- 4.4In all other cases, we won’t carry on until you’ve approved the updated estimate.
5. Payment
- 5.1Payment is due as soon as the work is finished, unless we’ve agreed otherwise.
- 5.2For larger projects, we may ask for a deposit before we start, with staged payments due at agreed points.
- 5.3You can pay by bank transfer, by card through a secure Stripe payment link, or through our customer portal.
- 5.4Late payments may be charged interest at 4% above the Bank of England base rate.
6. Your responsibilities
- 6.1Please make sure the areas we’ll be working in are clear and accessible.
- 6.2We’re not liable for delays or extra costs caused by areas not being ready or by restricted access to the work area.
- 6.3The position of appliances, pipes and controls must be decided before work starts, unless it’s set out in the quote or any drawings.
- 6.4If you want significant changes or an unusual position, please tell us in writing to avoid delays. Changes like this may cost extra.
7. Health, safety and asbestos
- 7.1We and you both agree to follow all relevant health and safety regulations while the work is carried out.
- 7.2Our prices don’t include removing any asbestos found during the work.
- 7.3If we find asbestos, we’ll stop work straight away. You’ll then need to arrange, at your own cost, for a specialist asbestos removal company to deal with it.
8. Materials and warranty
- 8.1Materials we supply remain our property until we’ve been paid in full.
- 8.2We give a 12-month warranty on our workmanship. Parts we supply come with the manufacturer’s warranty. Both depend on proper use and maintenance.
- 8.3We’re not responsible for faults, delays or extra costs caused by materials you supply.
9. Existing systems and defects
- 9.1Our prices assume your existing plumbing and water pressure are in a satisfactory condition.
- 9.2We’re not responsible for defects in existing water tanks, pipes or other parts that come to light during or after our work.
- 9.3We’re not liable for defects in the original or existing system that are revealed during our work, including during boiler installations or control upgrades.
- 9.4Any extra work needed to put those defects right will be charged at our usual rates.
10. Servicing
- 10.1We service boilers, gas fires, cookers, cylinders and water heaters. A service covers the gas burner, controls, combustion chamber, flue ways and flue.
- 10.2The service fee doesn’t cover wear and tear found during the service, or parts that fail because of problems that were already there. These are charged separately.
11. Power Flushing
- 11.1Power Flushing removes debris and sludge, which can cause wear on valves, pumps, boilers and radiators. We carry it out in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.
- 11.2Removing corrosion or debris can sometimes reveal or cause leaks. Any extra work needed because of these leaks is chargeable.
- 11.3We do everything we can to protect your property, but the process can be messy. Please keep the affected areas clear.
12. Cancelling, rearranging and no access
- 12.1You can cancel or rearrange work by giving us at least 24 hours’ notice.
- 12.2If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, we may charge to cover our lost time and costs.
- 12.3If our engineer arrives at the agreed time and can’t get in, for example because the customer, tenant or site contact confirmed someone would be home but nobody is there, we may add a no-access fee to the invoice to cover our engineer’s time and travel.
- 12.4We look at every no-access visit individually and use our discretion before charging.
13. Insurance and liability
- 13.1We are fully insured for public liability and for damage caused by our work.
- 13.2We’re not liable for delays, damage or failing to meet our obligations because of things beyond our reasonable control, such as supplier delays, extreme weather or natural disasters.
14. Ending the agreement
- 14.1We may end the agreement if you don’t keep to these terms, for example because of non-payment, unsafe conditions or no access to the work area.
- 14.2You may end the agreement by telling us in writing. You’ll still need to pay for any work already completed.
15. Photos and job updates
- 15.1With your prior approval, we may take photos of completed work for our records or for promotional use.
- 15.2We aim to photograph the work wherever possible, but photos may not be taken on every job or every visit.
- 15.3Our text, email and other job updates are sent automatically, and we work hard to make sure you get them. We can’t guarantee every message will arrive, for example because of network problems, an incorrect number or email address, or a system outage. If you haven’t heard from us when you expected to, please call or WhatsApp us.
- 15.4Example messages, job cards and updates shown on our website are for illustration. The messages you receive may be worded differently.
16. Complaints and disputes
- 16.1If you’re unhappy with anything, please tell us in writing within 14 days of the issue arising.
- 16.2We’ll work with you to sort it out fairly. If needed, a dispute can be referred to an independent arbitration service.
17. Your personal information
- 17.1We handle your personal information in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- 17.2We won’t share your information with third parties without your consent, except where it’s needed to carry out the work. See our privacy policy for more.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We’ll let you know about significant changes before they take effect.
19. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
